CY CASE: The Strike of Anzin: A Step Towards a Better Labour Legislation

Ferdaousse Abdeljelil and Aude Froese have made a fascinating podcast episode detailing the Anzin Strike of 1884. As they investigate, this important strike in the Anzin coal fields would radically change France's labour laws.

Peak event report: UPF students

Hello! Before we begin, we would like to introduce ourselves. We are the UPF team: Maria Calvet, Maria Teresa Tous and Lidia Baeza.  This is our first post in the blog and we dedicated it to a global assessment of last month's  Peak Event  in Paris. Why did you join? The three of us were contacted by Professor Alfons Aragoneses in September, even before starting the academic year. We went for a coffee all together and he presented the initiative to us: conducting a research project revolving around the common theme of the conference, minority rights through history within a legal framework. Being law students and also very involved in the academic international life in university, we thought that a learning community would be an interesting thing to be a part of, as it seemed something very new for us. VIRTUAL EXHIBITION 2023/24: 'Connectedness in Legal History'

Uniting VUB, CY Paris, the University of Ljubljana, Nova University Lisbon and the University of Warwick this year the EUTOPIA Connected Learning Community Legal History has focused on the Connectedness in Legal History. Just as EUTopia connects students across Europe this year's theme, announced on November 30, looks back in history to see how connections are made through the law. This the VUB graciously held our Peak Event on  March 14 and 15  which allowed our students from each institute to meet each other in person. After touring Brussels and working on their presentations this has led to this year's blog posts. These have ranged from  Cheyenne Larivière's  look into the Constitution and governing of the Austrian Low Countries during the eighteenth-century to   Maéva Le Bot's  look at women's fight for feminism and labour equality with the unions.
